Shopping for fall & winter clothing.

I struck out at Value Village yesterday, I tried on about 25 different things and was not happy with any of it. I did find one maroon colored sweater dress that was really really cute on the hanger. On me, not so much. It was a really pretty color that suited me well but it was too long. It was a cable knit and I really loved it when looking at it on the hanger but the fact it was too long just looked weird on me. I struck out in the leggings department there as well. Any they had where horrible bright gaudy patterns that just looked so wrong on me. Same with work blouses/shirts. Plenty that looked really cute on the hanger but none that looked so great on me.

The shopping trip was not completely a loss however. We went before Value Village to the Weekend Market in Dartmouth with Erin and Cory’s cousin Scotty and I did manage to get my brother taken care of for Christmas. I found a Jimmie Johnson McFarlane Toy Figure and a gold card. He is a big fan of NASCAR and Jimmie Johnson in particular. So that is him pretty much done. Might get one or two other small things for him. I also got an idea for Cory for Christmas. One of many actually. I just have to wait till the pay after next and I am going to see if I can find it online and see if I can get a better price. [...]

Fall is sort of peaking its head out.

It’s been a really warm September over all. We had a few cooler days but mostly in the high teens and 20’s (Celsius) which is higher then normal for this time of year. It’s been beautiful though and I am not complaining. In some places the leaves are starting to change now near the end of September but other areas are still so green. It’s like living in two worlds.

Since I spent a good chunk of September sick I did not get out a lot with my camera. However I did a few weekends ago go to Oak Island like I mentioned before. It made me sicker for a day or two after but I am glad I still went. I was able to take some pictures but really nothing has changed much since last time I was there. It was still a nice drive there and nice walk through the island to the money pit. [...]

Need to get my ass in gear!

I finished the week with no major issues and have taken an extra hour a day next week to help catch up on some bills and stuff. I am feeling increasingly better and am really encouraged to keep going. I am still coughing but it’s manageable for the most part now. I am excited to be back to work and looking forward again to the cooler days of fall.

Over the last few weeks I have had a lot of time to really think about where I am in my career. Which really is just a job not a career, but at least it’s one I really enjoy. It can become tedious though as I am sure even a career can be. I have been thinking though that with my knowledge of technology in classrooms (such as SMART Boards, projectors, etc) and with my love of kids, of education and of children with special needs, that I am really not 100% where I want to be. Stir crazy

I am getting so bored. It is September 6th and it is almost 30°C outside or it feels like it anyway, I think it is like 22-23°C and feels like 26-27°C. It’s beautiful and I am sitting on my couch with all the windows open watching the Simpsons and playing games on the computer. It does not feel like fall yet. It’s so warm outside.

I just want to be outside. We went this morning to the Harbourview Weekend Market in Dartmouth with Cory’s cousin to look around. This weekend is the 50 Mile Yard Sale which is an event that goes on every year. My best friend Erin and I usually go every year. We all decided yesterday not to go since we did not have much money left and need to use what is left for gas till the end of the month and can not spare the gas. I am disappointed. I really wanted to get out all day and enjoy the day. Doesn’t even bother me that I would be doing all the driving. It would have been worth it. [...]

Three Autumn Quotes

When I think of Autumn I think of pumpkins, and ghouls and goblins and little children trick-or-treating. I think of  the leaves changing, of bundling up to stay warm and the crisp cool air. To me no one can describe autumn as well as these three author and poets.

The autumn wind is a pirate. Blustering in from sea with a rollicking song he sweeps along swaggering boisterously. His face is weather beaten, he wears a hooded sash with a silver hat about his head… The autumn wind is a Raider, pillaging just for fun.
~ Steve Sabol

A wind has blown the rain away and blown the sky away and all the leaves away, and the trees stand. I think, I too, have known autumn too long.
~ E.E. Cummings

There is a harmony in autumn, and a luster in its sky, which through the summer is not heard or seen, as if it could not be, as if it had not been!
~ Percy Bysshe Shelley [...]
