  • What’s in a name?

I have to admit I am being lazy and writing up some of my blog posts ahead of time right now. So that I do not fall back into the rut of not posting for weeks, and this is one of them. C’est La Vie! So, what’s in a name? By this I mean A Story About A Girl or storyboutagirl.org. I feel like giving a bit of a back history about the domain name, my blogging and whatever else I can think of related to this.

If you have read my about section then you may already know that the name is based off of an Our Lady Peace (OLP) song called Story About A Girl off of their Gravity album. If you want to check out some of their songs you can check out their iTunes page.

  • Last two weeks in a nutshell

Okay so I am only really going back to the weekend before last since anything before that and post dentist appointment (last post) is a bit of a blur… I went home to my parents for a visit before they took off last Friday for a trip to Ontario and through the US. Since my brother’s brother was visiting for a few weeks it also seemed like good timing as he lives in Moncton, New Brunswick which is 466 km/289.6 mi from Digby, Nova Scotia where my family is. He is 264 km/164 mi from Halifax, Nova Scotia where I live if you drive around and less then that if you take the Ferry to Saint John, New Brunswick. Anyways…

My brother is adopted if you are wondering and he has 5 siblings between his birth mother and birth father (he was the first born) and was adopted by my parents and I. Since I was 11 and had a say in the whole thing (which was cool), I fee I can add “I” in there. I will maybe do a longer blog post about that later since it will give me something to blog about later this week. But moving on.. Sorry my train of thought is a little awkward and all over the place right now. You’ll see why in a few more minutes. [...]

I am hoping to get my readers to register on my blog. It doesn’t matter if your another blogger who reads my blog and/or I read yours, or whether you are here for the first time or if you are someone I know in “real” life.

I am doing this so that I can have more privacy in posts, I am going to be using a plugin that allows me to control access to specific registered users or groups of users. Once I have a few registered people I will start using it.

Obviously it is completely up to you and I can not force you too, but I would really appreciate it if you did. Click here to register!

1: When did you start your blog?

I started this particular blog on March 12th, 2013.

2: Have you had anyone online presence before? Another blog, YouTube etc?

I have been blogging since 1999, I can’t even remember the site, something similar to LiveJournal, but I don’t remember the site. My first domain I owned sometime in 2001. I also blogged in tons of other places and have facebook, youtube, twitte, tumblr, pintrest, instagram and ficker accounts among others not listed here.

3: Why did you start your blog?

I started first with just sites about things I was into and liked, then moved into blogging when I was going through a period of really heavy depression and social anxiety. I found it helpful. Still do.

4: When did you become serious about blogging? [...]

  • Happy Easter!

I’m kinda horrible for forgetting to blog. A day turns into two and two turns into two weeks pretty easily! I have been so busy at work. Things are calming down a little. I was actually a little bored today. But maybe that was restlessness mostly from coming back from a 5 day weekend.

I took a few extra days to go to New Brunswick with my family. We visited my Gran who was 105 in February. She amazes me! She still lives in her own home. She just recently, in the last year, started having a home worker come in and help her and stay the night. She fought it all the way. Didn’t want one.

We stayed for 4 nights at my Aunt and Uncles cottages with them and their 4 year old grandson, my Mom, my Dad, my brother and I. It takes about 5 hours to drive there if you don’t stop. It took us about 6 1/2 because we stopped to take pictures. [...]

  • Be careful what you wish for!

Who said she was getting slightly bored with her job? Who said she wants a bit out a challenge? Who wanted to move up the corporate ladder?

    Oh yeah… I DID!

Some days I want to kick myself! Really? I wanted this? Seriously? Argh…

Okay, so it’s not that bad. I’m just really really busy. Half the time I’m scrambling too keep up.  The other half of the time I feel hopelessly lost.  Its only been a week and I’m have wanted to throw in the proverbial “towel” at least 3 times a day!

The problem is that its basically a new product launch that the company does not seem in the least prepared for. Things change so fast that the ink does not dry on the “cheat sheets” that we print out for the agents before head-quarters changes their minds. [...]
