  • New car and wedding planning!

So we bought a new car today! It’s not brand new but it is a 2015, a Nissan Alitma SV. It was a really good deal. It has 67,000 km on it but they extended the warranty free of charge so we had another 100,000 km which is what the original warranty for a new Nissan Altima would be.

The pictures are not the greatest but they were just quick ones Eddie snapped with his phone. We will get some better ones this weekend hopefully. It’s a really nice car and so much bigger then the Fiesta!

I can’t wait to take it to New Brunswick and maybe into the US with us next weekend. I hate putting that many miles on a car we just bought so fast but we are just going into Maine. It’ll all depend on if we can get the plates switched from the old car to the new one before next weekend.

  • I seriously can’t believe our luck, or lack thereof.

I’m at a complete loss. A couple of months ago a guy backed into our car in the parking lot of a grocery store. Cory and I were inside getting groceries. The guy left a note with his phone number and said he was sorry.

I called him and got his insurance information and called my insurance company to file a claim. A few days later a claims adjuster was assigned and I took my car to a collision center and they sent a quote to the adjuster and an appointment was made to have the car fixed.

Now two and a half years earlier a woman backed up into my old car in my apartments parking lot. I was with a different insurance company at the time and I decided to have the claim paid out as it was minor and I chose not to have the car fixed. Which we are allowed to do here. I never had any issues and was with that same company up till this past December.

  • I give up!

I totally and utterly give up to winter. We are once again being buried alive in snow. You need snow shoes to walk, there is literally 2-3 feet of snow minimum and snow drifts up to 10 ft high. That’s not counting the snow we already had.

As you can see we are getting pummeled once again. It’s just nuts! I have never seen so much snow here. Even when I lived in Calgary I do not really remember getting this much. Maybe once in the 6 years we were there.

I am in awe of the amount of snow on the ground. I really just can’t believe it. I know we are not the only ones. In some places in PEI and New Brunswick they have more and I know some areas of the States are hit hard too, however I am just tired of winter all together and feel like complaining.

  • She’s free!

I don’t know why I keep referring to my car as a she. Maybe cause it is her pretty blue color? Maybe it’s her nasty temperament or maybe it’s cause I am surrounded by guys both at work and at home. But yes, she is free. It was not an easy task and I am sure everyone who helped us paid the price today. We had about 10 people out there at one point helping us.

We started on Friday morning and it took us till Sunday late afternoon to finally free her. First on Friday after Cory’s uncle came over and replaced the battery he also brought an ice pick. We attempted to break up as much ice as we could and got the front tires loose. He said not to worry about the back as they were not that bad and would pop loose. I didn’t agree but kept my mouth shut.

  • Cars & Domains

The beginning of this week kinda sucked…Been dealing with the stupid car all week. Needs a new battery apparently. I’ve also been dealing with Network Solutions trying to transfer my domain name out from them, but apparently they do not want to let it go! It’s getting annoying.

My Mom and Dad came up yesterday for a doctors appointment. Unfortunately, I was working and was not able to see them as they wanted to get home in case it started to snow and could not wait for me to get off of work. Dad was able to test my battery and alternator and he said the power coming out of the alternator is fine, but not the battery. So that confirms the battery needs to be replaced.

In one way I am glad to hear it is only the battery, however if it was the alternator or something else like that then it would likely be covered under warranty and then it would not be my problem and I would not be stuck with paying for any of it myself. Oh well, a battery is not really that expensive anyways. I just really don’t have the money.

  • &^%$*(&^ piece of &%$# car

That about sums it up… Now that I got that out of my system. I have woken up for the 4th day in about 3 weeks to find my battery dead again. It is getting so annoying. I thought this was a step up. I did not expect so many issues with this damn car! This is the 4th time it has died and had to be boosted and the temperature only went down to -11°C (-16°C ), which is cold but not cold enough that a 3-4 year old car should die when it gets that cold. There has to be something wrong with the battery.

Cory’s Dad is picking me up to take me to work at 8:30 tomorrow morning and I am getting a ride back with them as Pat (Cory’s Mom) works 9-5 and I work 9:15 to 5:15 this week. At least I have that much going for me, it wont be like last week where I had to do a combination of co-workers driving me to the KFC and walking the rest of the way (0.5 km) in blizzard conditions (which most of the last 2 weeks has been) that cause a 5-7 min walk to take 15-20 minutes or a cab and either Cory’s Dad or a cab in.
