I did up our tax returns this past Tuesday and because we have both only been working part-time and because I spent over half the year technically unemployed, along with the over $2000 I spent in medication this year and diabetic supplies we are getting a hefty amount back, that plus I got approved for EI and also got from December 22nd to now all at once. Somehow once again we managed to avoid a sticky situation as we were concerned financially when I ended up unemployed again. We are going to be able to be back to owing nothing at all except the car (even the credit card will be paid in full) once we get it. Edward also is getting cross-trained in another position, that coupled with me working until I start school we are back in decent shape again and even can start on our savings again. Talk about relief!
So we decided to treat ourselves, he got Red Dead Redemption 2 and I got a bundle for the Sims 4 of Cats & Dogs, Realm of Magic and Backyard Stuff. I had previously purchased Get to Work and Tiny Living for Christmas and never really played with the content and worlds in either yet. I also have some others like Island Living, Seasons, Outdoor Retreat and some of stuff packs. So needless to say I have tons of new content to explore in the Sims 4. I have been a huge Sims fan since the original The Sims back in 2000. I can’t believe it’s been 20 years! Wow, I feel old. I was only 19 when it came out! And I have been hooked on the franchise ever since. I played SimCity as well before The Sims. I think I started with SimCity 2000. Anyways, enough history, I have been playing since I bought the expansion packs yesterday and it is so much fun. I have really only been playing in Brindleton Bay and with the cats. I have not really gone into any of the Realm of Magic stuff yet. I will save that maybe for another day.
I made myself a tiny house last night, a micro actually, 32 x 32 and decorated it. I did base it off a house I tried downloading and using from the gallery that I really liked, but for some reason my Sim had issues moving around the house even though I had the move objects cheat on and I even moved some of the furniture around and tried to get it to work. Finally, I gave up and sort of rebuilt it, sort of made it my own. I love to build but I am not very great with ideas. I do like to try and re-create micro and tiny houses from real house plans and decorate them. They don’t always turn out the way I want though. Just need more practice building I guess. I now have a bit more than half the expansion packs, game packs and stuff packs for Sims 4 now. I don’t want to even think about the amount I have spent on them over the years (we won’t even talk about The Sims or Sims 3, didn’t get into Sims 2 much).
I’ve never really been one to make up an elaborate storyline and record or do much other than play but I wouldn’t mind doing a bit of that, maybe some of the challenges people have come up with as well. The only mod installed right now is the one that stops the damn murphy bed from picking off my Sims one by one. It’s killed so many Sims it’s not funny. So I was glad when I saw the mod. I am going to look for some more mods and cc (custom content) at some point but for right now I am just enjoying what the game itself has to offer with each expansion pack.

My parents went to Connecticut on Tuesday for a week to visit our cousins there for a birthday party and they asked us to house & dog sit for the week at their place as well as get my brother back and forth to school every day. We came over Tuesday night to stay for the week. I love their place. It’s actually owned by one of the cousins she’s visiting and her husband.
The house is 170 years old, built in 1849. I wrote about its resident ghost Ethel here a few months back. It’s such a lovely old house but cold and drafty I have not been able to get warm since we’ve been here. I also have a bit of a break from work since my mom won’t be officially training me to be her office manager until she comes back.
We are dog sitting my parents two dogs Scamp who’s about 8 years old now and Karli who is now about a year, both of whom they’ve had since little puppies. Actually, Scamp was the puppy of one of my parent’s previous dogs and I was there when he was born. I named him after he bit (more like chewed or sucked) my mom’s nose the first time she picked him up.
So far it’s been pretty easy. Even my brother has been kind of quiet and mellow and fairly easy to deal with. Edwards has been enjoying himself mostly. We go to our place every morning to check on Max our cat and feed him and cuddle as well as get showers neither of us much like their well water here. It’s really hard and rusty and smells.
They’ll be back mid-week next week. It’s almost sort of like a mini-vacation only not really I’ve been playing a lot of the Sims 4 mostly and watching Shameless and some movies.
I can’t believe it is half way through October already. Fall has just flown by! It’s the 14th already but it seems like September. Our weather has been so nice I don’t even have winter tires on the car yet. Speaking of cars, Eddie downloaded Forza Horizon 2 for me while ago when it was free with Xbox Gold. I never played it but was looking for something to do the other day so I decided to play and loved it. I noticed Forza Horizon 4 was released October 2nd for Xbox One and was part of Xbox Game pass. I decided to get a 14 day free trial as we had it once before but the games weren’t that great. I downloaded Forza Horizon 4 and started playing and I am in love!!!
I honestly can not get enough of this game! Seriously. I’ve only been playing 4 days and I am at level 50 already. For me that’s pretty impressive because I get bored of things easily but there is so much to do! There are races, an open world to drive around in and things to find including rare cars (barn finds) that you can fix up. It’s like a giant treasure map. I can’t believe we had Forza Horizon 2 all along and I never played it.
The shots are of my actual cars, it has a great photo tool and the scenery and graphics in the game are amazing. I have played racing games before and enjoy them but never really played anything that I couldn’t put down. That’s what all started this. We were over at Eddie’s sisters place and the kids wanted to play on the Xbox and of course the adults got involved and started racing each other and the kids. It was Forza Motorsport 5. She mentioned they downloaded it for free a while ago so when we got home I went looking. I saw we had Forza Horizon 2 but didn’t really think I would be interested because I was looking for a track racing game.
Eddie mentioned to me that it was open world sort of like GTA but without the violence. So I decided to try it and now I am hooked. Seriously he may never see his Xbox again
