Our Trip To Maine

Oops, almost a month since I last blogged. I said I wasn’t going to do that…

Eddie and I took a side road trip on our own down the coast of Maine into Bar Harbor while we were in New Brunswick the weekend before last to go shopping for our wedding dress material in Bangor. I took some pictures with my camera. I haven’t even used it much since I got it. I apologize for the image heavy post.

First we started off in New Brunswick as I wanted to take a picture of the mill and waterfall in St.George, New Brunswick.

This is one of my favorite spots in New Brunswick, to get this picture you have to stand on an old wooden platform on an old bridge that in itself is a pretty picture. I didn’t get one of it though

This little gem above was in Eastport, Maine. They had them all over. What a neat idea! I edited the image a little obviously and added some effects as the original was really washed out. This was possible an image taken the day before when my whole family met my cousin Robin and her husband Paul in Eastport but I thought I would include it anyways as it is so neat.

This is a good example of the beautiful Colonial houses we saw along the coast in some towns. I can’t remember where exactly this was taken other then it was across from a park and warf where we took the picture below.

Where we are standing is Maine, on the other side is New Brunswick and somewhere in between? A pretty little fishing boat.

They had a beautiful little boardwalk there with some really pretty little buildings.

My sweet handsome Husband-To-Be Edward. I think this is the first picture of him I have put on here. With his permission of course. The pictures of me conveniently did not turn out

This just makes me think of every book set in New England that I have ever read, a sunny warm day at the beach and walking through a picturesque little New England town.

This is a pretty little hotel in Bar Harbor called the West Street Hotel. Sorry about the angle. It’s way to big to get it in from across the street with the lenses I have.

And this is the lovely Bar Harbor Inn. I plan on staying there with Edward sometime when we win the lottery. What a pretty place!

I can just imagine a band playing there in the summer and a bunch of people on blankets and picnic baskets in the grass below, can’t you?

This old movie theater was just too cool not to take a photo of it! I loved seeing it. All the old theaters around here are either gone or redone and no longer look old.

Two of my favorite things are covered bridges and lighthouses and we ended up finding 2 covered bridges and a lighthouse all in one spot on our way back in St. Martin’s, New Brunswick. I couldn’t figure out a vantage point to get all in one shot. Maybe next time.

I absolutely want to go on a covered bridge/light house hunt through Maine and New Brunswick sometime this summer or next. They are amazing to take pictures of and I can not wait to look for more!

New car and wedding planning!

So we bought a new car today! It’s not brand new but it is a 2015, a Nissan Alitma SV. It was a really good deal. It has 67,000 km on it but they extended the warranty free of charge so we had another 100,000 km which is what the original warranty for a new Nissan Altima would be.

The pictures are not the greatest but they were just quick ones Eddie snapped with his phone. We will get some better ones this weekend hopefully. It’s a really nice car and so much bigger then the Fiesta!

I can’t wait to take it to New Brunswick and maybe into the US with us next weekend. I hate putting that many miles on a car we just bought so fast but we are just going into Maine. It’ll all depend on if we can get the plates switched from the old car to the new one before next weekend.

In Nova Scotia you have 30 days but I am unsure if that may be an issue at the border as the plates are registered to another car and I don’t want to take that chance. I have the money to change them over so I was thinking of going Monday or Tuesday to Access Nova Scotia to get them changed over.

Today was my day off as I am off Friday and Saturday now so we went down this morning and picked up the car. We actually bought it in another town, Bridgewater as that was the were we went originally for a different car, a 2014 Ford Focus but they could not make that one work with our budget and because this one had a bit more kilometers on it (67,000 compared to the 23,000 the Focus had) we got a good deal on it and with the extra warranty we will still have warranty for pretty much our whole loan period. It also brought down our interest rate but the payments went up some. Our insurance stayed pretty much the same.

Tonight after I took Eddie to work my Maid of Honor; Erin, my Bridesmaids Kristy, Susan and Jen and I all got together at Jen’s apartment downstairs , she’s actually Eddies sister and my soon to be sister-in-law to go over the decorations with her and my soon to be nieces. It was a lot of fun. We came up with some DIY ideas for the wedding. I can not wait to try them out. Jen suggested doing a mock table to get an idea so we are going to get some supplies.

Erin came up with the idea of going to the Clay Cafe to make the vases for the flowers for our centerpieces. I love the idea. So instead of glass vases we would make clay ones in white, purple and grey and maybe green (colors of our wedding) and then paint or engrave “Kirsten and Edward ♥ August 27th, 2016” on them. I am pretty set on Gerber daisies and baby’s breath as our flowers. Mom said they can be dyed any color.

Jen found a really cool idea of cans, like soup cans, that you poke holes into in designs and then you can paint them and stick lights in them or you could use a candle. I love the idea! They might not sound like much but they are really pretty. I really like a rustic theme. I haven’t figured out how to embed Pinterest posts in here or I would post a few of the ideas. If anyone knows please let me know and I will edit this and add them! I’ve tried the embed option but the code doesn’t seem to work.

Our first trip to the US together

The last weekend in April my parents and Eddie and I are taking a trip into Maine to Bangor to hopefully buy material for the wedding. We will be staying at my Aunt and Uncle’s cottage in New Brunswick for 4 nights and will be making at least one day trip into the US.

Eddie and I are so excited. It is his first trip to the US. We went and got a passport for him the other day specifically for this trip. He’ll need it anyways for our honey moon. It’s soon going to be time to start planning the trip.

We are planning for the weekend to go to Jo-Ann Fabric in Bangor. We have the pattern’s already for the wedding dress and for the bridesmaids and flower girl dresses. I can’t wait to get started on them.

The wedding dress is just a regular dress pattern. But we are going to turn it into a wedding dress using charmeuse and lace. I can’t wait to get started on it. Mom and I are going to sew it together. We are making all the dresses. We are also doing the food ourselves, cold platters and we are doing all the decorations ourselves.

Edward’s sister-in-law is doing the photography and her friend is doing the cake. She is a professional cake maker and does beautiful work. We have the wedding invitations done and in the mail and some we still have to deliver to people close by. I’m so excited it is all coming together nicely!
