Happy Holidays!

I hope everyone is having a good holiday season! Eddie and I had a great Christmas. We spent Christmas Eve at home in front of the fire while watching It’s a Wonderful Life and sipping hot chocolate (reduced sugar one for me). The only thing that would have made Christmas any more wonderful would have been cuddling on the couch together but we only have one comfy couch and one not so comfy one and the comfy one is only a small love seat which really is not big enough for the two of us. He almost always gives up the comfy couch to me. We went to bed after the movie finished around 11 p.m. because we wanted to get up fairly early in the morning to drive over to Mom and Dad’s for breakfast and presents.

We got up about 7 a.m and drove over just after 8 a.m. to my parent’s place. My parents gave us all the stuff from “Santa” for Christmas. We got a new 12 piece reversible comforter set for our bed in blue and beige and a car remote starter kit which hasn’t arrived yet as they had to order it from a store up in Halifax and some gift cards. I got 2 sets of PJ’s, 2 sweaters for work (oh and I got a job like 3 days before Christmas but I’ll explain more about the below), socks, a toque and a Fortnight hoodie and my father had the idea of putting lots of chocolate and candy lose in all our stockings which is why it is in a ziplock bag.  I am ashamed to say I ate most of it already. So much for self control.

I laid all of my presents out on the bed on top of our new comforter set which came with 4 pillowcases, 2 shams, 3 throw pillows, a flat and fitted sheet and the comforter below and took a picture:

Eddies stuff is not in the picture because he had it all put away but he got 2 pairs of PJ bottoms (apparently sets are hard to get for men), 2 long sleeve t-shirts, socks, a toque, a spaetzle maker (we love spaetzle and he cooks more then I do) and honestly I can’t remember what else he got but I feel like there was more. Oh yeah, we both got 3 expansion packs each for Cards Against Humanity. He got expansion packs 1, 2 & 3 and I got 4, 5 & 6. Mom didn’t realise they were just the expansion packs so we still need to get the main game but that’s okay. We love playing it and you can get it online for about $35.

My parents also bought a dart board for out in the 3-season room at their place for Denton, Eddie and I or anyone who wants to play. They had made a skating rink outside but it leaked and the water all came out before it could freeze over so we never got to go skating which we wanted to start as a Christmas tradition. I am so looking forward to Eddie and I started some of our own Christmas traditions over the next few years. Ones I hope will include kids eventually. I can’t wait to get going on the paperwork to foster. We have to get the bedroom’s finished first and the bathroom so it’s still on hold until after the holidays.

We had Christmas dinner at their place at about 3 p.m.  A traditional Turkey dinner with all the trimmings and then hung out till about 5 until we headed back to the cottage. We finished the evening with Season 3 of Fuller House which I hadn’t watched yet.  Boxing day we just stayed home and watched more Christmas movies and more of Fuller House and then today Eddie and Dad went to finish packing up and cleaned the apartment. So as of today, we are officially moved 100% out of the apartment.

I mentioned above I got a job. I will be working as a tax preparer part-time. I will be starting the course late next week and then will need to take the test but I am excited. I enjoy working with numbers and have always enjoyed doing my own taxes and Edwards. I will be working in the office and it will only be part-time but may be full-time hours potentially during tax season depending but that’s exactly what I want as I would like to continue typing as well. I really enjoy transcribing as well.

  1. Sounds like you had a fun and relaxing Christmas Eve and Christmas! You got so many great gifts too. I love that they all seem practical and useful. (Sometimes I receive non-practical gifts, and I have no idea what to do with them, haha.) And congrats on your new job! That’s exciting that you got a job doing something you enjoy. I hope it goes well! Have a happy new year!

    1. I love receiving practical gifts and to be honest PJ’s are always one of my favourite things to receive each Christmas. Every year my mom asks and it’s always the same answer more PJ’s, there is nothing more comfortable than sleeping in warm PJ’s on a cold winter night. I am really excited about the job. It’s going to offer me the flexibility of working in the office part-time and my second job at home part-time. I can’t wait to get started! Happy new year to you too!
