I need to take photography lessons

I haven’t had a chance to edit the photos yet. I was playing around with some camera settings and most of the photos the white balance is off and they look really washed out or the color is off. I am sure I can somewhat fix them in Photoshop but haven’t had the time to try.

I took the day off tomorrow but am going to Digby so I doubt I’ll have time. On the weekend I’ll try. I’m going to bring my camera with me to Digby tomorrow as we are heading to Yarmouth as well. Not sure I’ll get much pictures as I am going with my mom to a workshop for Victoria’s quilts but I’m brining it anyways. I reset the camera back to factory defaults

I need to sign myself up for some photography courses or something. I have a decent eye and can take good shots but I’ll be the first to admit my camera has a lot more settings and a lot more to it them my old one and other then shooting this on pre set settings I don’t really know what I’m doing. Even some free online tutorials should help.

  1. I feel you on that… I’ve been researching a few online at your own pace classes myself. However, just because you had to reset your camera, keep in mind it’s not a failure since you found out some settings you weren’t pleased with 🙂 It’s a successful learning experience, figuring out what you like and what you don’t like.

    1. I have been researching online at your own pace classes as well. I don’t mind paying for courses honestly if they are decent ones. I’m sure I will figure out all the settings eventually. I did manage to use the camera today with much better results.

  2. Good luck! Honestly, photography can be really difficult even when a more challenging camera is put in front of you. I shoot with a DSLR and I remember just using a disposable and really enjoying that! I took a photography class in university but I didn’t pay a great deal of attention to the settings because I just wanted to take photos. 😦 I should have, I would have gotten better results. Towards the end of the class I started to learn, though.

Hopefully you will get to take photos! Sometimes I take my camera with me anyway and I know there will be guilt and regret at the fact I’ve carried it with me, so I make sure I get something out of it haha.

    1. Thanks Georgie! I wish I had a film camera sometimes. I took a class in high school and learnt how to develop film but that was before DSLR’s. My mom had a Pentax SLR camera when I was younger and I would always want to take pictures with it when we went anywhere and she would let me because she said I took better pictures then her. I never played around with any of the settings though and always just went with the preset modes. I always try to keep my camera with me in my car anytime I go anywhere just in case.

  3. I feel you, I really want to learn more about photography but unlike you, I don’t have a good eye haha! I’m really bad at artsy stuff so I don’t even try XD Good luck with exploring your camera’s settings and taking photos, who knows, maybe you’ll get the chance to shoot something nice when you bring your camera

    1. Thanks Claudine! I went hiking today and took the camera with me and managed to take some nice photos but I didn’t play around to much because I was scared to. Might work more on what to shoot and getting good shots before I start messing with settings again. I plan to take my camera with me everywhere as much as possible from here on out. I used to always keep my old camera in my car but it gets too cold in the winter here and too hot in the summer to do that anymore with my new one.
