Let the TTC begin!

Eddie and I have been trying a few months now to conceive and so far nothing much has happened. I am 35 going on 36 and with the medical issues I’ve had I am a little concerned about conceiving in general. About 2 months ago I came off of Lyrica, Naproxen and even Reactine. I have been taking a pre-natal multivitamin since then as well as a supplement called Vitex which is supposed to regulate everything and help with conceiving.

I am so happy that Eddie and I are on the same page with this and he is willing to do whatever it takes for us to have kids. We have decided we want to consider adoption as well. We have called the adoption hotline for Nova Scotia and have been invited to an orientation session. We can not make this one due to our schedules but we are hoping to make the next one in May in our area.

I am so excited and want to be a Mom so bad and Eddie loves the idea of being a Dad. I ordered and just received some ovulation tests strips from Ebay or Amazon, can’t remember which. I am hoping that it will help us better predict when to try. I have an appointment with my family doctor next week and am going to ask him again to refer me to someone. He wanted blood work last time but I lost the requisition and need to get one again.

I really hope we wont have any issues. I’m so excited to try!

  1. Good luck with the baby stuff! Just don’t get pregnant before your trip to Europe.. lol.
What countries are available to adopt from these days? I know many closed for adoption because there were people abusing the service. I heard horror stories about selling kids and making it a business.

    1. Lol I thought of that but at this point that would be fine with me, we can put the trip on hold till the little one is over a year old. We want kids so bad I am sure we would both be perfectly fine with that.

I am not sure which countries are open for adoption. I know Nova Scotia has some agencies that can help that are registered through the Dave Thomas Foundation for Adoption Canada but we were thinking about adopting a child from Canada or from Nova Scotia as there are tons and tons in the system. Even fostering would be a consideration for us.

We have even discussed adopting siblings, older children or children with special needs as we feel we could be a stable loving home for them and really help a child or children in need. I really love the idea of adoption and believe there are too many children out there without homes who need love and support and a safe place.

      1. Nice if it’s possible to adopt from your own country. Not that there is anything bad with kids from other countries but there are such huge needs nearby that starting a big expensive process with overseas adoption is kind of unnecessary.

  2. I really hope that things will work out and you will be able to have a baby. Either to conceive or adopt. It’s great that you are already trying both because adoption can take a while (from what I have heard from random sources). I really wish you all the best.

    1. Thanks Kya! I have a friend who just adopted a baby who is about 7 months old and it took them years to get a baby. I am excited about the idea of adopting. My parents adopted my brother and I have always wanted to adopt. I have always wanted to conceive and give birth myself as well.

  3. Yeah! Congrats on your decision to start trying! That’s fabulous. I was also told to take an extra pill of folic acid along with my prenatal vitamin while ttc good luck.

    1. I will look into taking an extra pill of folic acid. Right now I am taking the Costco Kirkland pre-natal vitamins. My doctor just suggested taking a multivitamin but I am all for whatever can help!

  4. I have Endometriosis, which is a disease that will make it hard to conceive when I start trying as well. Good luck and don’t get discouraged because it will happen!

    1. Hi Brandy. Thank you! I have never been diagnosed with Endometriosis but I have had issues with cycsts and with a few of them rupturing when I was in my teens and early 20’s. It’s always scared me. I have heard that Endometriosis can be really painful
